MET GALA MADNESS! FAME’s Favourite Looks

In the spirit of celebrating the 2025 Met Gala, ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’, the FAME committee looks back at our favourite looks.

LOOK 1: ZENDAYA 2019 ‘CAMP’ THEME

Lilly (FAME Honorary Member)

Now you can’t talk about the MET Gala without discussing one of its biggest icons Zendaya. Committee member Lilly’s favourite look over the years was her Cinderella styled light up dress. Zendaya delivered a look that perfectly encapsulated the theme of the year, with her stylist Law Roach nailing it every time. We can’t wait to see what they deliver this year!

LOOK 2: TYLA 2024 ‘SLEEPING BEAUTIES: REAWAKENING FASHION’ THEME

Angelica (FAME Basso)

Another FAME favourite from more recent years is Tyla’s dress made entirely from sand! This look is nothing if not magnificent in how it embodies the time element so figuratively. The hourglass shaping of the dress in combination with the usage of sand was such a creative way to demonstrate the passing of time and fashion being reawaken in a fairy tale nature. This look will go down in history as one of the most innovative demonstrations of a theme.

LOOK 3: KYLIE AND KENDALL JENNER 2019 ‘CAMP’ THEME

Zeta (FAME Communications Director)

This look created by Versace was such a fun representation of the 2019 theme. The colour combinations of lilac and fiery orange aren’t traditionally colours that you would pair, however in this look the tones complement each other so fantastically that you can’t tear your eyes away. This look inspired countless Halloween costumes for years after and I am sure for years more to come.

LOOK 4: RIHANNA 2015 ‘CHINA THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS’ THEME

Lewis (FAME President)

Not only is this a FAME President favourite look, but in a recent interview Rihanna revealed that it is also her favourite look of all time! Nothing will beat the drape of her gorgeous yellow dress across the stairs and it is very hard to beat such an iconic moment like this. Hopefully we will see her appear once again at tomorrow’s gala!

LOOK 5: PHEOBE DYNEVOR 2024 ‘SLEEPING BEAUTIES: REAWAKENING FASHION’ THEME

Keely (FAME Basso)

Another crowd favourite look was Phoebe Dynevor’s look from last year. This had actually be Victoria Beckham’s debut in styling a Met Gala attendee, and she did not disappoint. The shade of the dress complimented Dynevor amazingly as well as fit into the sleeping beauty exhibition, while the sheer floral material was incredibly fitting for the ‘Garden of Time’ dress code. She absolutely nailed this moment.

LOOK 6: BLAKE LIVELY 2018 ‘HEAVENLY BODIES’ THEME

Jemma (FAME Basso)

This Met Gala look and theme has gone down in history as one of the most legendary to ever hit the carpet. Every single person this year nailed it as has never been seen again. After this look, Blake Lively was named the queen of the Met Gala carpet. Unfortunately, we will not be seeing one of her looks as confirmed for the 2025 Met Gala. However, we will always have this 2018 moment to look back on.

LOOK 7: EZRA MILLER 2019 ‘CAMP THEME’

Lee (FAME Basso)

Though ‘Heavenly Bodies’ is often praised as being one of the best Met Gala themes of all time, it appears that within the FAME community the 2019 ‘Camp’ theme rivals this notion. This look by Miller is iconic in the usage of special effects makeup to create the multiple eye effect, hidden so creatively behind the mask of their face. To say this is original and fitting to the theme is nothing but an understatement for such a memorable look.
